Let’s talk about that hollow feeling in your chest. You know the one – where you look around at your life, and on paper, everything seems perfect. Maybe you’ve got the career, the relationship, the apartment with the trendy houseplants. Yet somehow, you’re still scrolling through Instagram at 1 AM, feeling disconnected from your higher self.
First, I want you to know you’re not alone in seeking natural anxiety relief. Like, really not alone. As someone who spent years checking all the “right” boxes, I know exactly how it feels to achieve everything you’re “supposed” to want and still feel… empty.
Here’s the thing: that emptiness isn’t a sign that you’re ungrateful or broken. It’s actually your inner wisdom trying to tell you something important – an invitation to start your spiritual healing journey.
Growing up as millennials, we inherited some pretty intense programming:
- Get the degree
- Land the job
- Find the partner
- Buy the things
- Post about it all
But nobody really taught us holistic mental health practices or how to connect with ourselves beyond those checkboxes.
So how do we start filling that emptiness with something real? Here are some self-healing practices:
- Get curious, not judgmental
- Instead of beating yourself up, try asking yourself: “What is this feeling trying to tell me?” Treat it like a messenger rather than an enemy. This is the foundation of emotional healing techniques.
- Notice your “shoulds”
- When you catch yourself saying “I should be happy because…” or “I should want…” – pause. Those “shoulds” are often society’s voice, not your authentic self speaking.
- Create space for mindfulness
- I’m not talking about meditation (unless that’s your thing). Maybe it’s taking a mindful walk without podcasts, using self-discovery journal prompts, or just sitting with your morning coffee before checking your phone.
The emptiness you’re feeling isn’t your enemy – it’s an invitation to explore spiritual alternatives to traditional therapy and get to know yourself better. To peel back the layers of “supposed to” and discover what actually lights up your conscious living journey.
Remember, you’re not ungrateful for wanting more. You’re human for wanting real connection with your higher self.
